I'm wondering if this is more common than I realize: Two friends make an arrangement to marry each other if neither has found someone else by a certain time or age.

Have you or anyone you know made such a pact? Did they go through with it?

I've known several people who at least talked about it. I had friends in high school with whom I discussed it ... but all of us found somebody, so it never came to pass. :)

I've never had that pact. I know nobody that has had that pact.

I think most people would rather die single the marry someone because they ran out of options.

yeah I did that in my 20s.. no we never married thank god.. LOL as you get older you realize that marriage is not a requirement to live on the planet and you need more then a pact to make it work

No. Never heard of such a thing. I would never enter into such an "arrangement". Never known anyone else to to it either.

Why would one?...Desperation?...E www...Hope you haven't done this.

People grow at different rates, and in different ways...two friends, who have "something" in common...but not enough for a relationship "at that time", agree to marry when they're oh...say 30, "if" they've not found someone else?...have "nothing more" in common "then", and probably "less".

Why would one even consider this?

Hey, it must be...someone made a movie about it.

I don't think I would do that....I mean...isn't that kind of settling??? To marry just to marry? I want to feel the passion and love and connection with someone..not say...well since we are both single and at that age...why not...nah...not for me...that is crazy~
